Why is a content's image not displaying on a content card when the content's link is copied from a pathway?

Issue:

I manually added some content to a pathway with the Add by Type option. I later edited the item and added an image. When copying the shared link by clicking the "Share" button on the content card within the pathway and pasting it to a browser, the content card image was not displayed. Instead, we see a green tile. Why is the image not showing?

Cause:

This is expected behavior as the content is not added to the Catalog, and all changes will only be reflected within the pathway. This is advised when editing content added only to a pathway, as seen below:

Resolution:

Add the content to the Internal Catalog for a more consistent experience across Degreed. This will also assist in its maintenance.
Note you may need permission to add content to the internal catalog. If so, please contact your administrator.
