Join or Leave a Group

You can find and join any Open Groups within Degreed by joining yourself or accepting an invitation sent by another member. You can also view and join Open Groups directly from another member's Profile (if their Profile Visibility does not restrict this).

If a Group is Closed you can submit a request and join once a Group Admin approves. If a Group is Private, you can only join by invitation.

To Join an Open/Closed Group

1. From the side navigation menu, select Home > Groups.
   The Groups page in your profile displays.
2. Click the Browse button.
   
   The Groups page opens.
3. Use the Search field to filter and discover potential Groups to join.
4. Click the Join button on the Group card or select the Group Name for more details before joining.

If you join an Open Group you are able to access the Group's Feed immediately. If the Group is Closed, a Group Admin must approve your request before you can view the Group's Feed.

To Join a Group by Invitation

When you are invited to join a Group by invitation, you are notified by email and a notification alert within Degreed.  Within the email, click the Accept Invitation button to join the Group. Follow the steps below to join from a notification within Degreed.

1. From the side navigation menu, select Notifications.
2. Click the notification message that invites you to join a Group.

You are now added as a member to the corresponding Group.

To Join a Group from a Learner's Profile

1. Access the Learner's Profile in Degreed.
2. Click the Groups label in the Learner's Profile banner (if available).
   A modal appears that displays the Open Groups this Learner is in.
3. Click the Join button that corresponds with the Group you are interested in.
   
   You are added as a member to the Group.

Private Groups do not display in this modal unless you are also a member of that Group. However, Private Groups are included in the Group count displayed on a Learner's profile. For example, in the above images, the text "17 Groups" is displayed on the Learner's Profile, but only 6 are available to view in the modal. This is because only Open/Closed Groups are displayed.

To Leave a Group

1. From the side navigation menu, select Home > Groups.
   The Groups page in your profile displays.
2. Locate the Group you want to leave, and click the Group Name.
3. Click the blue, Joined button ()to the right of the screen.
4. In the confirmation dialog box, click the Yes, I'm Sure button.

You are immediately removed from the Group.
